A friend, Melissa found summer truffles (Tuber Aestivum) with the help of her dog (who is being especially trained for this purpose) whilst on a foray across the South Downs.

Tuber Aestivum - Summer Truffle

Diameter: 2-4cm
Terrain: Beechwoods
Substrate: Soil
Tree type: Beech
These truffles were found by Melissa but she kindly let me have one. I used a small slice for a spore print and ate the rest :)
