Long walk on a damp day round Christ's Hospital and Shelley's Wood.
Flammulina Velutipes - Velvet Shank

Picture Type: Cap close-up
Notes
Month: December
Time: Mid afternoon
Diameter: 2 - 3cm
Height: 3 - 5cm
Terrain: Deciduous woodland
Substrate: Wood
Tree type: Not sure, possibly Willow
Comments:
This is a very pretty mushroom, you wouldn't think that it is the same species sold as Enoki mushrooms which are long stemmed and white with an undeveloped cap. This is due I believe to it being cultivated in the dark.
